McAfee Labs outlines Top Threats in Its Latest Predictions

McAfee has unveiled its 2011 Threat Predictions report, outlining the top threats that researchers at McAfee Labs foresee for the coming year. The list comprises 2010’s most buzzed about platforms and services, including Google’s Android, Apple’s iPhone, foursquare, Google TV and the Mac OS X platform, which are all expected to become major targets for cybercriminals. McAfee Labs also predicts that politically motivated attacks will be on the rise, as more groups are expected to repeat the WikiLeaks paradigm.

“We have seen significant advancements in device and social network adoption, placing a bulls-eye on the platforms and services users are embracing the most,” said Vincent Weafer, Senior Vice-President, McAfee Labs. “These platforms and services have become very popular in a short amount of time, and we are already seeing a significant increase in vulnerabilities, attacks and data loss.”

The use of abbreviated URLs on sites like Twitter makes it easy for cybercriminals to mask and direct users to malicious websites. With more than 3,000 shortened URLs per minute being generated, McAfee Labs expects to see a growing number used for spam, scamming and other malicious purposes. McAfee Labs also predicts that cybercriminals will increasingly use locative services such as foursquare, Gowalla and Facebook Places that can easily search, track and plot the whereabouts of friends and strangers, across the most popular social networking sites in 2011.

The popularity of iPads and iPhones in business environments, combined with the lack of user understanding of proper security for these devices, will increase the risk for data and identity exposure, and will make Apple botnets and Trojans a common occurrence, as predicted by McAfee.

Mcafee AntiVirus Software

McAfee antivirus uses clever antispyware which is designed to detect and remove malware from your computer. McAfee antivirus protection protects your system from a range of computer viruses including key loggers, internet browser hijackers and Trojans.

Computer viruses can be very harmful as well as being incredible annoying. A computer virus can steal your identity and take your passwords so the cyber criminals can gain financially. Quite often a computer virus will lay hidden on your system so you are unaware you are in danger.

If you shop online and you have a virus there is a real threat your bank account details could be found out and your account could be clear of funds by the end of the day. You can protect yourself from this kind of crime by purchasing antivirus software.

Mcafee was founded back in the 80’s so they know the security technology market very well. McAfee’s name is synonymous with antivirus and anti-spam solutions.

The general consensus amongst McAfee users is the antivirus software is very easy to install and configure. You get excellent protection against all the latest computer viruses and sometimes it will protect you when other anti virus tools wont.

Quite often free antispyware tools will not be as good as the best antivirus tools which you pay for. Free tools will lack support and for many computer users this is essential to get some sort of advice when a virus is found.

Mcafee auto protect alerts the computer user when there is an attempt made by a suspicious file to install or run and gives the option to block the file at the gateway. McAfee allows you to scan on demand and or at routine intervals to identify any potential threats on your system. By scanning your system you will be alerted to threats you may not even know where there.

McAfee is always updating with the latest virus definitions so your machine is protected against any new threats. Computer viruses are continuously being generated in order to beat the antivirus software tools designed to stop them. By using the best anti virus software you can browse the Internet safely knowing your computer will be protected should it come under attack.

McAfee Antivirus Review

McAfee antivirus software is well known the world over. It is very important when downloading and purchasing antivirus tools that you only download files from websites and companies you 100% trust. This is because computer viruses are spread through file downloads which inject malicious code onto your site.

The new McAfee antivirus software for 2010 has undergone a makeover and now has a new interface to match its new name. The new interface used in McAfee AntiVirus Plus previously known as McAfee VirusScan Plus streamlines the complex tools used to give your computer full internet protection.

The McAfee software is easy to use and has clear explanations of all the features. It has been built eight times faster than the previous edition. This means it takes up less memory meaning your computer will run faster now than it would have when using previous versions of McAfee antivirus software.

Everything on the new software has been designed to make life easier for you. Confusing names have been removed and some of the features have been moved around to make it more intuitive. For example the firewall settings have been moved to web and email protection which is the most logical place for it as the firewall is what protects you when you access the web.

If you are not a technical person computer virus protection is one of those products you have no idea about what to look for. If you are not good with computers you need security software that will be so easy to use you can do it blind folded! McAfee makes your life easier through colour coding and simple messages like “No action required”.

McAfee uses ultra efficient virus protection which blocks viruses in milliseconds according to AV-Test.org McAfee offers better Malware detection than both Symantec and Kapersky. McAfee uses real time protection with their system called Artemis it works alongside the McAfee SiteAdvisor to scan any downloads you want on your computer. The URL, IP address and domain data are scanned and compared against blacklists to evaluate the potential threat of the file before it goes onto your hard drive.

In the past users of McAfee have complained the pc protection software can slow down the computer on boot up but McAfee have made improvements to prevent this from happening. Performance has been improved through selective process loading and flagging files which have already been approved as safe. The latest McAfee antivirus protection is the best yet.

Read McAfee antivirus reviews to keep up to date with the latest product features.
