Matira Beach is another popular attraction here, which stands as a classic example of a South Pacific beach. A visit to Bora Bora would not be complete without taking a tour to ancient shrines in the region, namely, Marae Temples, which are open air shrines. These temples were once used for a number of purposes including presenting the Gods with ritual foods, conducting wedding ceremonies, and enthroning a king.
