Acne Makes No Exemptions
It has been mentioned many times that acne problems affects more than 80% of teenagers. With this high percentage, dermatologists and other health experts around the world joined hands so as to be able to address this concern. Research has been done and some are still being conducted so as to totally eradicate this problem.
Why spend so much time, money and effort on this seemingly ordinary skin condition? One factor that can be attributed to it is human nature’s drive to be appreciated and loved. It is a known fact that physical appearance has a lot to say in terms of how one acts and how others treat the individual. Another thing is the perfect feature of celebrities and supermodels that are evident in their photos on magazine covers and billboards.
But did you know that some of the stars are facing the same acne problems that normal people do? Paul Venoit, a celebrity stylist, shares his encounter with one supermodel. Venoit did not disclose the supermodel’s name but he was surprised that the supermodel is suffering from acne. This star’s imperfections is not shown to the public eye (except if you happen to see them in person), thanks to Photoshop technology. Acnes, uneven skin tones and even scars are not a problem to celebrities for as long as their pictures are taken cared of by the wonders of the computer.
While some teenagers shed tears and have heartaches due to acne problems, a percent in the populace has other concerns in mind and that is psoriasis. According to Dr. Norman Wasel, a dermatologist who specializes in psoriasis treatment, there is an estimated of 20,000 to 40,000 people who are affected by this disease in the Edmonton area alone.
Psoriasis is a disease that is characterized by white-to-red scaly patches that appears on the skin. Contrary to beliefs that this disease is contagious, experts said that it is not transmittable. People with psoriasis have the same problems like that of other sufferers of chronic disease. Pain and itchiness is two major concerns with this disease and a bigger concern of low-self esteem.
Because of this, the American Academy of Dermatology and the National Psoriasis Foundation launched a program and this is a psoriasis awareness campaign. Country singer LeAnn Rimes and America’s Next Top Model 2006 winner CariDee English serves as their spokespersons. These two celebrities can very well connect to people with psoriasis because they too have it.

Psoriasis treatment is still under study while acne has several treatment options. Some of which are acne light therapy and acne light products that can offer you a good solution to your acne problems.
