Pacific islanders flee as undersea quakes stir panic

]]>

UNDERSEA earthquakes yesterday caused panic in the South Pacific, sending islanders fleeing to higher ground on fears of a second devastating tsunami in many weeks, but a series of waves proved to be tiny and harmless.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre issued a tsunami warning for the entire southwest Pacific, which included island resorts, Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia, after the quakes struck beneath the seas between Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands.

Hawaii and the Philippines, according to Reuters, were placed on tsunami watch. The centre cancelled its warning after three tsunamis, measuring up to 10 cm, were recorded in Vanuatu.

But with memories fresh of a tsunami last week that killed some 150 people in American Samoa and Samoa, many islanders panicked when the quake hit and tsunami warnings were issued.

“People were frightened and some ran out of the building onto the street because it was so strong,” Florence Cari, receptionist at Hotel Santo in Vanuatu, said.

A reporter at Vanuatu’s Daily Post newspaper said people on Espiritu Santo island ran for higher ground.

“We have had reports that the kids are running into the hills,” she said.

Some villagers in outlying islands in the Solomons reported tidal changes.

“People on the coastal areas have noticed a tide difference. The hospital is on alert,” a hospital spokesman on tiny Nendo island in southwest Solomon Islands said by telephone.

The tsunami warning centre issued its warning after two subsea quakes, one measuring 7.8 magnitude and the other 7.3. Late in the evening, the centre reported another 7 magnitude quake but ruled out a tsunami threat. No details were immediately available.

Moments before the morning quakes, a magnitude 6.7 tremor struck southeast of the Sulu archipelago of the Philippines, which is still mopping up from a typhoon that killed at least 22 people.

Indonesia’s port city, Padang, was hit by a 7.6 magnitude quake last week, killing 704 people and leaving 295 missing, but the health minister said the toll could reach 3,000.

Three boys were missing in the Crow Island- the little island of New Zealand on South Pacific. Then the related department tried to search and rescue them, but failed. So the government defined them as death. Miraculously, they came back after 50 days’ rafting on Pacific and get the treatment in the hospital at present. How can the boys spend 50 days rafting on Pacific without any food?

The Accident

Two of the three boys are 15 years old; another one is 14 years old. On October 5th, in the annual Sports meeting, they took an aluminum boat, and were missing near the Attaf atoll. New Zealand Navy began the large- scale search and rescue operations around the surrounding waters, but found nothing. In the following, they are considered dead by government. The local people and relatives held the memorial for them.

50 days later, three boys miraculously survived. A fishing boat rescued them near the Fidji waters and sent them to hospital for treatment of the severe sunburn.

They were found at the northeast of Fidji waters by a fishing boat crew at the afternoon of November 24th. “We sailed to their side and asked if they need help, they were ecstatically answered” yes! ” ” Fred.Anderson, the captain of the fishing bow told reporter,” We immediately put down the life boats, and then give them first aid at emergency. “

Their strong will save them during 50 days

Rafting on the boat on the Pacific, they can just eat coconuts and drink the water gotten by the oil tarpaulin, and one seabird caught by them on the boat. In this difficult situation, how can they survive as long as 50 days?

Anderson said, there was just a Fred Anderson said there was just a small portion of coconut, but only it was finished within two days.

He said they just rely on water to survive during a long period of time. The sea water is everywhere, but without any fresh water. Thus they just can collect the fresh water with the oil a tarp at night. They were very lucky to catch a seabird about two weeks ago.

They have begun to drink seawater in recent two days, which would cause serious damage to their body.

These boys maintained good physical condition under the hot tropical burning sun,
which indeed surprised all people.

“They are very spiritual with very strong will. Although they have been severely tortured physically, mentally they are very strong.” the captain Said.

The latest situation

The journalist holds a short time interview for the three boys in the hospital and gets their latest situation. They all accept the treatment of Sunburn and the alimentary canal due to irregular feeding. But they three boys seem to be very happy without any Exhaustion and fear.

They were playing games with their laptop on bed; it seems the miserable experience in the 50 days just a dream for them. The reporter asked them what they best want to do in the flowing.” I want a cool board and bag  to surf and climb mountain. I just find an on line store dinodirect, they are promoting the clearance sales Clearance Sale, and crazy week activities

at 50% off discount for every time. I want get them. After I get out of hospital, I can play with the new ones. It is cool” Maybe it is said, “Born calves are not afraid of tiger.” We can’t find the slightest despair and Depression in their eyes. They are active, optimistic and strong. During the hard 50 days, it is their strong mind to save them.

IS VEDIC CIVILIZATION THE REMNANTS OF THE LEGENDARY ATLANTIS

Tilak authored the well-regarded “The Orion”, or, Researches into the antiquities of the Vedas (1893) in which he used astronomy to establish that the Vedic people were present in India at least as early as the 4th millennium BC. Later, in 1903, he wrote the much more speculative Arctic Home in the Vedas. In it he argued that the Vedas could only have been composed in the Arctics, and the Aryan bards brought them south after the onset of the last Ice age.

An Aitutaki Honeymoon At The Pacific Resort Aitutaki

An Aitutaki Honeymoon, is the best of Cook Island Honeymoon destinations. The Pacific Resort Aitutaki is one of the few luxury small hotels on Aitutaki, and is absolutely ideal spot for a Cook Island Aitutaki honeymoon. Aitutaki is the most beautiful part of the Cook Islands, and is a remote paradise, almost untouched by the 21st century.

The Pacific Resort Aitutaki is a fairly typical Polynesian hideaway with beach front bungalows, suites, villas, and a restaurant where you will eat top class Polynesian cuisine. This means fresh seafood caught daily and fruit from the garden at the hotel.

There are a number of things to do, and sunbathing and snorkelling in crystal clear warm water over the reef right by the hotel comes top of the list. The reef is inhabited by thousands of brightly coloured fish. This is a great place to relax in luxury and isolation after the pressures of a wedding.

The Pacific Resort Aitutaki is over 250 kms north of Rarotonga, and you can get there in 40 minutes by plane, and is the only full-service luxury resort in the Cook Islands. It is on an island atoll, and lies in one of the world’s largest lagoons. This is paradise, a secret hideaway, which is why an Aitutaki honeymoon can’t be beaten.

When you arrive at Aitutaki on your Cook Island honeymoon you’ll be met and given a flower necklace, driven the short distance to the hotel, and greeted in person by the manager.

Choose a beachfront suite, which is in a self contained thatched unit.

They are a very good size, airconditioned, furnished in dark wood, with one wall a sliding window opening onto a veranda, then you are a few steps to the powder white sand beach next to a sea that is an unbelievable blue/turquoise/green colour.

There is a large comfortable bed, TV, DVD player, and stereo system.

A huge bathroom contains a large shower, and his and hers basins, and a door leading to an outside shower as well.

The Pacific resort is very clean, well maintained, the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Meals are taken in the restaurant which overlooks the small pool, mind you who needs a pool when you have a beach to end all beaches outside!! The views of the lagoon, and the reef are almost beyond description, sufficient to say they more than justify choosing an Aitutaki honeymoon!!

The sheer isolation of the Pacific resort means that food is very dependent on local produce, which really means chicken, goat, and fish. The chef does introduce as much variety as possible, but you don’t come to such a beautifully isolated and unspoilt part of the world for the food. It’s worth eating out and the reception staff are always willing and able to help.

Aitutataki is one of the most beautiful places in the world. The Pacific Resort is a fantastic Aitutaki Honeymoon choice. This is by South Pacific standards probably the top small luxury hotel.
