According to Facebook, “Places is a Facebook feature that allows you to see where your friends are and share your location in the real world.

When you use Places, you’ll be able to see if any of your friends are currently checked in nearby and connect with them easily.

You can check into nearby Places to tell your friends where you are, tag your friends in the Places you visit, and view comments your friends have made about the Places you visit.

Connect with people on Facebook in a completely new way.”
How to Use Places

First of all, you or a Facebook friend in your group will need a smartphone. If you don’t have an iPhone, you’ll have to use the Facebook touch mobile site on a browser that supports both HTML 5 and geolocation.

You can add places, check in to places that already exist, and tag people who are with you.

If you have an iPhone or access to one, here’s what I recommend you do right away:

Get your Hair Salon or Day Spa location entered into Facebook Places immediately!

Just follow Facebook’s instructions below:

1. Access the Places application on your supported device.
2. Click “Check In.”
3. Click the “Add” button to the left of the Places Names search box.
4. Enter a name for the new Place as well as an optional description of it. Then, click the “Add” button at the bottom right of the page.
5. You will then have the option to both write a description of what you are doing at the new Place, and/or tag your friends there.
6. Click the “Check In” button to share your visit.

“Keep in mind that any Place that you create is public. This means that other people may see your created Place while browsing Facebook or the Places application.”

Once your location has been added to Places, either by you or by another local Facebook user, just go to the Place page from Facebook.com and click the link that says “Is this Place Page your business?”

If you claim the location as your business, it will become a Facebook Page. You can then post updates to people who like the Page, update your business information and more.

This is what makes Facebook Places so cool.

I really think Facebook Places is going to take off when the application is accessible on all devices and all countries.

La historia está ambientada en el trasfondo de Tropical Island en el momento de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Hay dos parejas. Facebook Places and What It Means To You

Facebook announced yesterday the launch of their location place application and let us take a look at what that means to you.

The service is similar to Foursquare in that you can create and “check into” places, most importantly know what you and your friends are doing.  Facebook places uses GPS to allow folks to check in on their mobile phone, also the service allows you to leave tips and comments for people to see.  Lets say for example you had a great steak at The Precinct (in Cincinnati), you can let others know that and for your friends to drop by.

The application also uses the GPS to identify other “hot” spots within a particular geographic area, possibly close to other places you have identified.  Currently, the service is only available on the I-Phone, however you can use your laptop as well.

What does this mean to you, the marketer?  Basically, quite a bit!  Businesses are already clamoring to claim all of their locations in a certain city or across the country.  It would be wise to create specific badges for specific locations of a restaurant, bar, etc..  The other interesting piece here would be to offer exclusive deals just through the Facebook application, I recommended the same thing awhile back with Foursquare. 

Foursquare currently has a little over 2 million users, while Facebook has north of 500 million users, so certainly there is a lot of potential for exposure here.

10 Ways to Use Facebook for Increasing Web Traffic to Your Site

More than 115 million people login to Facebook every month. It is the largest social networking tool and a great place in the web for building your brand and driving traffic to your site. However, if you are not familiar with the viral techniques that work in the Facebook platform, soon you will find your brand tarnished. You can gain quick exposure to your businesses using the techniques discussed in this article.

1. Build a Facebook network. Before you start implementing any of the techniques discussed here, you need to develop a network of Facebook friends. To do that, join a few groups that are related to your business and a few groups that you are passionate about.

Ask people in the groups to add you as their friend. Facebook also has nifty tool that suggest people you would like to know. Send request to these people to add you as their friend. Send a short note explaining why you want to be their friend. If send 20 requests a day, you will have a network of more than 1,000 friends in two months.

2. Update your status every day. Login every day and update your status. Don’t use status messages like “I am sleeping now”, “Just came from work”. These types of status messages are not interesting. Because people don’t change their relationship frequently, Facebook places a great deal of importance to relationship change and send the news feeds to everybody in your network whenever there is a change in your relationship status.

People have explored this loop hole to attract attention to their profiles. They change their relationship almost weekly and try to attract visitors to their profiles. It is up to you to adopt this technique because it may not reflect your true relationship status. If you do adopt this technique, don’t forget to publish some promotional materials in  your personal feed.

7. Attend Multiple Events. True to its college root, Facebook is all about friends gathering at some place for an event. Facebook gives high priority to events in the news feed. Your goal is to RSVP all the events in your network even if you miss a few of them.

When your friends see you as a frequent event attendee, they consider you as an event resource. The trick  is to show your name in all the places you can. As your friends see your name multiple times, some will be curious to check your profile.

8. Import your blog post. If you have a blog, import your blog’s RSS feed into Facebook. Facebook will publish the articles in the feed as Facebook notes automatically. Encourage your friends to comments on your articles in Facebook notes. You can also tag friends in the articles but don’t overdo it.

9. Post comments on popular groups. Visit popular Facebook groups that you have joined regularly and post comments. Just like blog comments or forum posting, Facebook   comments on popular groups will attract attention to your name and profile. Add something valuable or post a link that adds value to the topic under discussions.

10. Start your own events. Events are very popular in Facebook and if you can promote it properly, it will have viral effects and thousands will register for the event. South Pacific musical is not what it seems to be. It’s neither a complete war story nor a total love story. It’s an interwoven tale of two couples who are caught in the web of war wrath and their own prejudices. A concert version of this show was held at the Carnegie Hall in 2005.

The lead pair of the current version of South Pacific musical includes Kellie O’Hara in the role of Nellie, who is a US Navy nurse. She falls in love with Emile de Becque, a plantation owner in the play. The character of Lt. Joe Cable is played by Mathew Morrison. This character falls for a young local Liat. The story is built on the backdrop of World War II.
