Information About Kauai

Kauai, most appropriately nicknamed the Garden Isle, is the Hawaiian vacation destination treasured for its lush tropical greenery and sparkling sand beaches. The tropical paradise of Kauai basks amidst the sparkling blue waters of the Pacific Ocean, about 20 minutes by air from Honolulu. Formed some six million years ago, the island encompasses roughly 550 square miles and is the oldest and northernmost of the eight major islands of the Hawaiian chain.

For vacationers who want to avoid the crowds of Oahu and Maui and see Hawaii in a much more natural setting, Kauai is the perfect alternative.
Visitors to the island worship not only its postcard-perfect beauty, but Kauai’s diversity of cultures, activities, shopping, and dining.

If ever an island was made for adventure, it’s the Hawaiian island of Kauai, owing to its extraordinary and diverse natural environment. Verdant rainforests, sparkling sand beaches, impressive golf courses, vibrant scenery, friendly faces, blissful breezes, and striking waterfalls are just a few of Kauai’s spectacular offerings to its guests.

– The busy harbor at Port Allen is the launch pad for a fleet of pleasure boats that take to the seas for whale watching, dinner sails, dolphin encounters, charter fishing, snorkel and picnic trips and cruising beneath the stunning green palisades of the Napali Coast.

– Hiking trails head into Waimea, the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” or along the Napali Coast to breathtaking valleys unreachable by road. There are coastal hikes across high sand dunes, and rain forest treks among the oldest flora in Hawaii. Ferns reach up to eye level and tropical hibiscus and ginger blossoms measure the size of ones fist. Waterfalls and cool plunge pools, hidden shoreline coves and glorious mountain vistas heighten the whole experience.

– The only navigable rivers in Hawaii flow through Kauai. Paddlers can explore placid river reaches by kayak, gliding silently through sanctuaries for the rarest birds on planet Earth.

– Real horseback riding will take one into forests, canyons and mountains for picnics, waterfall swims and glorious ocean vistas.

– Kauai’s award winning and highly popular Movie Tours offers visitors the opportunity to visit the places of breathtaking scenery where some of the most popular motion pictures and television series have been filmed. These hits include Jurassic Park, Raiders of the Lost Ark, South Pacific, Blue Hawaii, Gilligan’s Island, Fantasy Island and about 30 others.

– Kauai is known as the Garden Isle because it’s so green and the flora and fauna so profligate. One can wander through botanical gardens chartered by the U.S. Congress and encounter some of the rarest living things on Earth. At Limahuli Gardens, native Hawaiian plants are arranged around ancient taro terraces carved into the base of the mountains where the Napali Coast begins. The scenery is dramatic, the air tranquil. Ninety percent of Hawaii’s native plants are unique to the Islands and half are endangered. At Na ‘Aina Kai Botanical Gardens, the Garden Isle’s newest garden, whimsical sculptures and a maze full of surprises are woven into a landscape of ponds, gardens, waterfalls, lagoons and streams. Kauai’s glorious weather provides the just right amount of sun and rain to nurture kiawe trees, blackberries, java plum, guava, eucalyptus, bamboo, sandalwood, pineapple, and sugarcane, to name just a few. One of Kauai’s specialties is the indigenous mokihana vine and berry, found only on the island. Other great finds include orchids, coconut palms, plumeria, hibiscus and other tropical plants throughout the island, with its arid to lush climate enhancing the beauty and fragrance of Kauai’s flowers and vegetation. One can anticipate the opportunity to see a variety of unique and distinctive animals and birds on this tropical island, which includes the likes of, dolphins, monk seals, sea turtles, reef fish, coral reefs, whales, and so much more. Native birds include the iwi and the State bird, the nene goose; other birds on the island are doves, cardinals, egrets, roosters.

– Kauai is a great place to learn a new sport or hobby, one that may light up a lifetime. There are schools for surfing, SCUBA diving, tennis and golf. Golfers can tee off at one of nine golf courses, many of them championship links set amidst spectacular scenery. There are also several tennis courts.

– Some of the most authentic lu’au in Hawaii happen on Kauai. No one should go home without enjoying this traditional feast with Hawaiian food, hula and fun.

As an independent Australian researcher and scientist I have recently turned my attention to investigating and bringing out the truth about Global Warming. What I found shocked me. Climate change is happening now and there is no escaping it.

“Much more likely than not, global warming is upon us. It is prudent to expect that weather patterns will change and the seas will rise, in an ever worsening pattern, through our lifetimes and on into our grandchildren’s…Nearly everyone in the world will need to adjust. Citizens will need reliable information. So it is an important job, in some ways our top priority, to improve the communication of knowledge”. – Prof. Spencer Weart

The fact is we aren’t being told the whole truth about global warming. For a start, our best climate scientists are being muzzled, harassed and forbidden from talking to the press about the things they know but dare not say. On top of that, fossil fuel companies have been avidly campaigning to spread misinformation and confusion about climate change and global warming…. After all, the last thing they want is control or limitation over their industry…

Yet, nearly every week now a shocking climate catastrophe hits the news… Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, mega-droughts in Australia, the Asian tsunami, laval mud oozing uncontrollably out of the ground in Indonesia, stunning melting of sea ice in the Arctic, the collapse of massive ice shelves in Antarctica, floating icebergs off New Zealand’s coast, accelerating glaciers in Greenland, and only this month, the earthquake off Japan measuring a massive 8.1 on the Richter Scale they are all (yes, even the seismic activity) signs of spiraling climate change… and, we ain’t seen nothing yet!

Truth is, climate change is not some far-way problem that our kids will have to deal with, as scientists at first thought it would be. Information that has only come to light in the last few years strongly suggests that it could get a lot worse very, very quickly. It could even be bad enough to threaten our food and water supplies, and is a looming threat to low-lying, heavily populated coastlines around the world….

Already we are seeing South Pacific islands submerging under the onslaught of rising seas levels.

Every day climate extremes are being recorded around the world that dramatically exceed official predictions. Groundbreaking research continues to uncover fundamental truths about climate that have yet to be incorporated into climate models and predictions. While many official scenarios still assume that changes will unfold in a gradual, linear fashion, newly understood climate forces have the potential to create rapidly accelerating, exponential shifts.

And fresh evidence about Earth’s climate past has only recently revealed that centuries of slow, creeping variations in our planet’s climate history have been punctuated by stunningly rapid change. No longer is climate seen as an inherently stable system that gradually shifts from one state to another. Our climate system has shown that it is capable of responding to relatively small upsets with radical instability and upheaval. Could it be possible that it is happening again? My research suggests that it is.

“Large, abrupt and widespread climate changes with major impacts have occurred repeatedly in the past, when the earth system was forced across thresholds. Although abrupt climate change can occur for many reasons, it is conceivable that human forcing of climate change is increasing the probability of large, abrupt events.” – Prof. R. B. Alley

But scientists have been a bit late to wake up. It was not until 2005 that the phrase ‘tipping point’ appeared in publications on climate, implying that it could change not only rapidly, but irreversibly. Such tipping points indicate a threshold of change beyond which the system loses its stability and transforms spontaneously into a radically new state….cold to hot, warm to freezing, wet to dry, calm to chaotic. It is now understood that even small creeping changes…like current global warming… can induce sudden, irreversible flips from one climate state to another.

We are now seeing possible tipping points in the melting of polar ice caps, and the thawing of tundra, both of which contribute to the warming that triggered them, and dramatically accelerating global warming further. In this way, rather than steady, gradual changes, what we could be facing is an abrupt rearrangement of our climate.

A report by the U.S. National Research Council first suggested in 2002 that abrupt and potentially catastrophic climate changes are not only possible but likely in the future.

“The world is teetering on the brink of abrupt climate change: a change that will be so rapid and

unexpected that human and natural systems will have difficulty adapting to it “

– National Research Council.

The real question is what does it mean for our future?

It is no longer easy to deny that the climate is changing. The risk is that it may change quicker than we can fully understand or accept it. Trouble is we can’t really afford not to act now… We could easily be caught unprepared for this.

Right now in Australia, for example, we are heading into yet another El Nino event, of continuing drought conditions and extreme heat. El Nino events are becoming progressively more frequent and more intense with climate change, and are tipped to become the new “normal” climate for countries bordering the south Pacific. So we can anticipate tightening water resources and widespread failure of food crops in Australia. We will be forced to rethink the way we use…and waste… many essential resources that we have, until now, taken for granted.

My research into the latest facts on climate change reveal that this just one small aspect of the monumental climate shocks that are on the cards. Others who know, like me, are alarmed at what lies ahead. Unfortunately we missed the opportunity to avert this crisis with minor tweeks to our lifestyle and behavior, like changing light bulbs or catching the bus now and then. This late in the day we should be seriously preparing for the shocks ahead, because time is running out.

We need to rethink the way we live our lives if we want to have any future at all.

This is a volatile world. If climate shifted abruptly in the past, not just once, but repeatedly, it’s inevitable it will happen again. The question is, when?

Will Global Warming Unleash More Seismic Activity?

At first glance, there doesn’t seem like there could be any connection between global warming and seismic activity. After all, why would the earth become less stable just because it’s a little warmer? Well, connected they are. The earth’s crust is a lot more sensitive than you might think. And the forecasts from some quarters are dramatic – – not only will the earth shake, it will spit fire.

Luxury travel is diametrically opposed to traveling on budget. ‘Luxury’ as the term Suggests, is to have the best of everything by paying the maximum for it. If you have money and want to make your vacations a dream come true then go for the luxuries available in the travel world.

The Hunt for a Perfect Place-

The first task to take up is to decide a lavish destination. You can go according to the season like if it is hot, it’s better to throng the beaches. There are three world’s top most destinations in this category and these are Caribbean, Europe and South Pacific or Oceania.

The Caribbean is the land of water. If you are a water lover then there is nothing like this place. Well known as the world’s fifth greatest water body, Caribbean has more than a hundred islands which turn from the bottom tip of Florida to the northwest of Venezuela.

These islands are blessed with exotic beauty of turquoise blue waters and sandy beaches. The temperature is perfect throughout the year at around 80 degrees Fahrenheit. What else one can look forward to are the bewitchingly beautiful beach villas with the best of amenities ranging from food to entertainment.

The next outstanding destination can be Europe. The place has the best of everything and foe everyone. Besides a rich historical past, this wealthy destination has all sorts of scenic splendors. There are spectacular slopes of Scandinavia, the humid Mediterranean and the peninsulas to steal your attention.

How can one forget the incredible South Pacific or Oceania as a luxury destination…the place has a bunch of marvelous islands like New Zealand, Australia, Micronesia etc. that make you a prisoner of their lust. The place has fascinating lagoons and lively beaches to enjoy all types of water sports and other activities for instance spinner dolphins, humpback whales and the like.

The Means to Commute-

After you select the ideal place for your journey, think about the way to reach there. Several options are available of which private jets and helicopters top the list. These private air modes have lots of benefits and convenience. Their services are available round the clock. All you have to do is to call up a private jet or airways company and ask for a jet or plane. These jets not only take least time to reach the desired destination but provide you with privacy, peace of mind, no hassle of booking etc., luggage safety, all in all a perfect journey.

If you desire to sail then cruise ships are the perfect option. Silver sea Cruise Ships are a good and wise choice. They offer you the best of rooms, restaurants, entertainment like casinos etc. So there is much more to enjoy along with the oceanic magnificence.

Yacht is also a favorable option for the sea admirers. Besides accommodation there is accurate planning for all other requirements. The most renowned luxury yacht so far is known to be Sea Dream II.

The accommodation, food and entertainment-

Go for the best of hotels or resorts available. Make sure they have entire set up to take care of not just your lodging but food and entertainment (casinos, bars etc.). Health spas, gyms, parlors and the like add one more feather to it.

So what are you still waiting for–Travel in Luxury- Experience the Heaven on Earth…!

If you are looking for a true surfer’s paradise, you need to jog on round to New Zealand. This remote island is blessed with all the things that make for the perfect surf. Strong winds, the force of the Pacific Ocean, currents to liven things up a little and surf shops in abundance supplying every type of wetsuit, surf board, sex wax and surfing paraphernalia you could possibly wish for.

New Zealand is one of the most beautiful countries you could possibly wish to live in or visit. Life is as laid back as any surfer could possibly dream for. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking and every road leads to a beach with breaks that will challenge you and beg to be conquered.

However, underlying the serenity of New Zealand there still simmers a debate about land ownership between New Zealanders that originate from the West and Maoris. This will still come up from time to time and surfers have encountered this exact thing. Donned with wetsuits and boards, they have recently found themselves turned away from two of the favourite surfing beaches, Sky Williams and Mangahume at Taranaki. This, some say, is because the Maoris want to reclaim this land but even the surfers themselves believe it is not so.

The land is privately owned and is home to three cemeteries that restricted access is protecting. Maoris hold a lot of store by their ancestors and even by Western standards it is only right to respect burial grounds. Taranaki is on the Western coast of New Zealand, near New Plymouth, and surfers from all over the world will head there in the summer to catch a few waves. There is concern that shutting two of the favourite hotspots will affect the tourist industry but having been there myself, I doubt this very much. New Zealand has vast amounts of coastline, all ideal for surfers to dip their wetsuits.

Next best surfing opportunities after New Zealand have to be Hawaii, the true home of surfing. World famous competitions are held here due to the perfect waves. Any new producer of wetsuits would do well to have their product showcased in Hawaii, that’s one thing that will propel them straight into main stream surfing circles.

Originally, surfing was considered a sport of royalty who could afford to move around the world throughout the year, always having access to the best waves. It has now become a sport for all and is one that will keep you fit and strong and tanned.

For Hawaiian surfing, you are best to pack up your wetsuit and board and head north between November and March. Waves generated from Alaskan winter storms head into Hawaii creating a surfers paradise. The make-up of the ocean floor on Oahu’s north beaches are perfect for riding monster waves and endless barrels. For wind surfing, Hookipa Beach at Maui is where you need to be.

You would be wasting your time trying to surf north Hawaii during the summer months as the sea is as smooth as glass. It’s tropical storms in the south Pacific that send their shock waves in the form of surfing waves to the south of the island during summer months. Waikiki Beach at Oahu and Poipu Beach at Kauai are where you need to be for surfing and boogie boarding conditions.

There are surfing possibilities around the world all year round. True dedicated surfers will follow the waves and compete to be the best. For the rest of us it’s a seasonal past time that requires a dust off of the old surf board that’s been propped in the garage for the last six months and a deodorizing spray of the stinky wetsuit.

Tuvalu, consisted of 9 circular coral islands, is located in the South Pacific. The land area of Tuvalu is only 26 square kilometers and the highest point is only 4.5 meters above sea level. As the global warming, Tuvalu will be submerged in 50 years and therefore the nation will be the first one to migrate the whole country because of global warming.

When a small propeller plane is at the 1500 meters high altitude, a Crescent Moon shaped island are displayed in the endless expanses of the South Pacific. As the plane falling, Crescent Moon gradually became a touch of the plains, narrow, long land into the sea like the one “rope.” Along the “rope”, the aircraft slowly landed in the capital, Funafuti airport runway, which is Tuvalu’s only a small airport. Tuvalu is an isolated island, where is only a group of ships one month and a flight one week. Walking in the only one street in Tuvalu, your heart would be up and down because the left is the choppy sea, turn right to see, it is still the sea. In the middle of the low-lying land where the road will emerge pool of water from time to time and you will feel it will sink together with the road. With an average width of only twenty to thirty meters, a bath can be given a thorough wash from head to toe just by 23 meters high waves. “Do not come running after dark, it will go to the sea without careful,” A local resident told, “Tuvalu is too small and topography also is flat, high tide will be sea water in many places and even the center road of the island.” He also advised us not to wear leather shoes because a wave which crossed the entire island will directly flow to the other side when a casual tide happened.

Tavala Katea provides a set of test data which show that 16 years from 1993, a total of Tuvalu’s sea levels rose 9.12 centimeters, according to this figure, 50 years later, the sea level will rise by 37.6 centimeters, which means that plans Tuvalu at least 60% of the country completely sink into the sea.

All About Adobe Coupons

If you are an avid Adobe user, be it for home or office use, you could use a number of Adobe coupons available online to save you heaps. However, if you are one of those who have yet to discover the advantages brought about by online coupons, then you probably don’t know what you are missing.

Online coupons are very popular all over the Internet now. They are undoubtedly very helpful as they offer great deals to online users which can include discount prices, free shipping, free gift, and so much more. Online coupons for software have also gained popularity in the recent years. One of those software companies who have included coupons into their promotional strategies is Adobe.

Adobe is a software company that has been providing a series of powerful and compelling software solutions that are able to meet all the needs of all kinds of markets and customers. Their software solutions benefit a wide range of fields from designing and filmmaking to government and enterprise, benefiting developers, home owners and businesses. Among its great products are the Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Creative Suite, along with its Macromedia series which includes Dreamweaver, Flash and Contribute.

Benefits You Can Get from Adobe Coupons

Many stores offer online coupons, and their array of offerings vary as well. Adobe coupons available online, can give you a wide range of benefits. Most Adobe coupons offer about 10 to 20% discount, mostly on online sales. This usually means savings of as much as 0, depending on the promotional inclusions stated in the Adobe coupon. Some coupons offer free shipping, while a few offer freebies or bonus bundled software.

Adobe coupons generally come with an Adobe coupon code or Adobe promotional code, which contains the vital information for redeeming your discount or freebie. These coupon codes are composed of a series of numbers or letters, or a combination of these that identify the coupon. Each Adobe coupon is expected to have a unique Adobe promotional code. They are usually displayed in bold or in red attention-catching font right beside the promotional offer. However, not all coupons need a promotional code to get this discount. Make sure that you gather all information you need from the merchant before using the Adobe coupon.

Useful Tips in Using Your Adobe Coupon

Once you have your Adobe coupon code, you are on your way to get special offers. This is usually not difficult. First thing you need to do is double check whether the Adobe coupon applies to your Adobe purchase. Adobe has quite many products and software releases. You can find out whether your purchase applies by reading the restrictions (if applicable) on your coupon. Some Adobe promotions do not necessitate input of Adobe promotional code with your order; you simply need to make a purchase that are within the promotional terms stated and receive discount or freebies on your order. On the other hand, some coupons require a specific Adobe coupon code. While each online store can have slightly different features, most would ask you to enter your Adobe coupon code at the time of checkout. After encoding the Adobe promotional code, you should automatically see a price adjustment. You would have to double check this before finalizing your online purchase. If you do not see any price adjustment, it can either be traced to an expired code or to promotional exclusions. You can always contact the Adobe customer service to assist you with your coupon problems.

Adobe coupons are definitely great to have for computer users. Adobe proves to be one of the most indispensable software today and will continue to be so, although quite expensive, so getting those Adobe promotional codes will surely save you a nice amount. Not bad, right?

If you are an avid Adobe user, be it for home or office use, you could use a number of Adobe coupons available online to save you heaps. Adobe coupons generally come with an Adobe coupon code or Adobe promotional code , which contains the vital information for redeeming your discount or freebie.

A Private Island Paradise To Dream About For Your South Pacific Honeymoon Could Be Dolphin Island Fiji

A Fiji Honeymoon has to be the ultimate in the South Pacific if you can afford to go there in the first place!

What are dreams for, if not to come true, and Dolphin Island could be just waiting for you and your new spouse’s honeymoon vacation. The dream honeymoon should be spent on your own private island, waited on hand and foot, surrounded by blue seas, white sand, and no troubles in the world to come near you .

Potentially you could find all this on the seven acre Dolphin Island, which is the perfect place for either a stopover or a three day interlude in your honeymoon vacation.

Firstly of course you have to get to Fiji, which is an eleven hour flight from Los Angeles, but only four hours from Auckland, Sydney, and Brisbane. You will arrive at Nadi airport, and you can then choose how you get to Dolphin Island.

The least expensive option is a two hour drive around the coast to Rakiraki followed by a 10 minute boat trip.

Alternatively there is the helicopter and seaplane which are much quicker but not included in the price!!

Dolphin Island apart from this is all-inclusive, and it really is a private island paradise, consisting of just two dwellings or Bures, and you will be the only guests on the island at any one time.

The two Bures stand next to each other, built in traditional Fijian style, they are built up off the ground with wide and roomy verandas to maximise the sea breezes, and face the setting sun. One Bure is purely for dining, and relaxing, whilst the other one has two completely separate suites and both are air conditioned.

Truthfully there isn’t a huge amount to do at Dolphin Private Island, but most activity is naturally based on the sea. Snorkeling equipment is available as well as advice on where to most enjoy the crystal clear water and the multi coloured fish. The more energetic can paddle kayaks or sail a Hobie Cat.

On land you can walk around the island at low tide and here you get the chance to look at ancient Fijian fishing pools. If you are feeling particularly adventurous you can follow a walking trail and spend a night sleeping out in a room on the other side of the island.

Dolphin Island is truly a magical hidden island and perfect for a few days in the middle of a South Pacific Honeymoon. Just don’t expect sophisticated modern accouterments. This is simple and quite magnificent. The bures are decorated in the style of the local Fijian houses. The furniture is handcrafted, the bures have wooden beams hewn from local trees, and a dark local cloth covers the walls.

The food is exceptionally good, and of course cooked especially to please you, the only guests, in this exclusive laid back paradise that is Dolphin Private Island, home of the owner of New Zealand’s famous Huka Lodge. The management and staff also go out of their way to ensure you feel like the owners during your stay!!

If you can get to Dolphin Island and you don’t have to be on your Fiji South Pacific honeymoon. You might just be in need of a romantic break, and a Fiji Island vacation. This will do nicely!!

South Pacific Musical is All About Love and War!

South Pacific musical is not what it seems to be. It’s neither a complete war story nor a total love story. It’s an interwoven tale of two couples who are caught in the web of war wrath and their own prejudices. They are people who want to love and commit, but are held back by their own thoughts that arise out of racism.

The South Pacific Musical Set

Inspired by the terrific work of James A. Michener, South Pacific musical is a depiction of two short stories taken from his book “Tales of the South Pacific.” The show was first shown in 1949 at the Majestic Theater. It created waves then! At present, the show is running at Vivian Beamont Theater since April 4, 2008. Even today, it is drawing a huge audience. A movie has also been made from this musical. A concert version of this show was held at the Carnegie Hall in 2005.

The lead pair of the current version of South Pacific musical includes Kellie O’Hara in the role of Nellie, who is a US Navy nurse. She falls in love with Emile de Becque, a plantation owner in the play. The character of Lt. Joe Cable is played by Mathew Morrison. This character falls for a young local Liat. The story is built on the backdrop of World War II.

War affects every aspect of people’s lives. It also affects love. So, when both these couples plan to commit and start a new life with each other, it’s war that comes in between them. Can the couples overcome the aftereffects of war to commit to each other? How do they deal with racism? These are some questions that will be answered at the Vivian Beamont Theater.

South Pacific musical is no ordinary show. It has won a Pulitzer and four Tony Awards. Besides, there are talented people like Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II behind the production of the show, not to forget the entire creative crew which has left no stone unturned to make this show one of the greatest musicals of Broadway.

There’s even a tour going on for the UK production of this show. The tour started in 2007 from the Blackpool Grand Theater. It will end in July 2008 at the Cardiff New Theater. The star cast of the tour show includes Helena Blackman playing the role of Nellie and Dave Willetts playing the role of Emile. Martin Dodd and Peter Frosdick have produced the show, while Julian Woolford has directed it. Chris Hocking has given wonderful choreography.

South Pacific musical contains songs like “Some Enchanted Evening”, “Bali Hai”, and “Nothing like a Dame.” These songs have the power to stir your senses. They have been created by the equally powerful duo, Rodgers and Hammerstein!

So, get ready to experience war live on stage! No, you won’t be injured nor would you cry. Instead, you’ll be left completely entertained and pondering over how small issues can crop up in human minds and turn into something as serious as war!
