Calling the blow-hole gods

Calling to the blow-holes of Houma..A couple of small spouts can be seen on the right

Some of the most spectacular blowholes in the South Pacific can be found along the terraced coastline of south west Tongatapu. Here you’ll find not one blowhole, but hundreds of them along a four mile stretch of wild windswept coastline, the largest spouts of sea water being thrown almost 30 metres into the air. Best viewed at high tide, the blowholes are accessible a km walk past the inland village of Houma. Buses to Houma from Nuku’alofa take about 30 minutes.

It is reputed that one of the ancient Chiefs of Tonga spend his hours meditating over the blowholes and listening to the whistling of the waves – hence their name – ‘Mapu’a ‘a Vaca’ meaning ‘Chief’s Whistles’.

Costa Rica Holidays Guide

Edit Article |

Costa Rica is a true paradise on earth with hundreds of miles of white sand beaches and swaying palms, dense tropical forests rich in wildlife and lakes, rivers and streams abound. Costa Rica is reputed to have the happiest people on the planet; it is above any country in environment awareness and boasts one of the highest standards of living on earth. Costa Rica shares borders with Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the south with coasts on the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean.

For decades, Costa Rica has been a top choice destination for expatriates, retirees, adventurers and families to reside and live the good life. Costa Rica is also one of the major travel destinations on earth and thousands of visitors arrive each year to behold the many treasures the country has to offer. There are many direct flights from major hubs into San Jose, the capital city of Costa Rica and a network of commuter flights to all the provinces of the country.

Visitors to Costa Rica have varied and diverse interests; some come for the excellent scuba diving, others to sport fish. There are families on summer vacations, outdoorsmen and women exploring the wilderness and Costa Rica is a Valhalla for weddings and honeymoon vacation packages. With its many offerings, it is sometimes hard to decide where to go and where to stay.

The Guanacaste region on the north Pacific coast has seen a huge growth in tourism and has developed the area remarkably. Tamarindo is the hub for excellent accommodations with bed and breakfasts, condos, luxury resorts and budget lodging, great dining and a plethora of aquatic activities. Tamarindo offers some of the best sportfishing on earth and there are many dive sites.

The south Pacific region is a surfer’s paradise for beginners and experts alike, with beach, reef and river breaks and there are many jumping off spots to the interior. Along with resort beach accommodations there are jungle lodges, tent camps and inns. The area hosts national parks and biological reserves and trips into the rainforest are an unequaled experience.

The Caribbean side is less developed than the Pacific and has a tropical flair. The gin clear waters and coral reefs draw a handful of adventurers for the outrageous scuba diving, snorkeling and warm water sportfishing. Accommodations are less plentiful but the online hotels, lodges, bungalows and inns are well appointed and offer excellent service

Costa Rica leaders have historically invested in the nations future by providing all that its citizens need to thwart poverty. The people have been able to profit from a thriving export business and creating a nation where those investing in Costa Rica also prosper.

The beautiful Costa Rica Land is more than just a vacation destination. It is also home to over four thousand people. Home for Costa Ricans is 32,000 miles of varied terrain that is landlocked to the north by Nicaragua and in the south by Panama, and lets not forget the Caribbean Sea as well as the Pacific Ocean.

The history of the nation 10,000 years long, marks its modern day founding in the mid 1500’s. the nation developed slowly until the late 1800’s, a strong government had been set up and politicians were making bold national policies. Implementing free primary and secondary education for all citizens and even abolishing the death penalty. Last century, Costa Rica became a democratic nation, woman and blacks were given the right to vote. The national military was disbanded and Costa Rica was declared itself neutral nation. The nation’s citizens also enjoy free health care.

Costa Rica land is rich providing the nation with a healthy export business in coffee and bananas. These resources have been used to the point where they are the foundation of much of the country’s economy. Costa Rica has a sizable income from tourism and the export of electronics, textiles exotic flowers and more. Costa Rica real estate is presently proving to be the country’s most sought after commodity. This is due to the fact that Costa Rican officials have been offering irresistible incentives to buyers investing in Costa Rica real estate along the coast as well as inland real estate in Costa Rica.

Costa Rica lies between Panama and Nicaragua and it is bordered by the Caribbean Sea to the east and the North Pacific Ocean to the west. It is comprised of 51,100 square kilometers and the territorial waters take up about 589 square kilometers. The beaches extend to more than 1100 miles of sheer beauty with the Pacific Ocean on the western side and the Caribbean Sea on the eastern side.

At the Costa Rican beaches you can engage yourself in various kinds of activities. Among the numerous activities you can spend time in snorkeling, scuba diving, yachting, kayaking, surfing, water-skiing, deep-sea fishing, sports fishing, diving, swimming and many such water sports.

Surfing is perhaps the most popular activity. The Playa Avellana, Nicoya Peninsula’s Playa Santa Teresa, Santa Rosa National Park’s Playa Naranjo, Playa Negra, Playa Hermosa, Playa Grande, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Dominical and Playa Pavones are considered as the best options among the Costa Rica beaches for surfing with regards to the breaks and swells.

Fishing in this country, is also a popular most satisfying water sport. Costa Rica has a vast resource of fish in its huge stretches of lakes, seas and ocean. Be it deep sea fishing or fresh water fishing, Costa Rica has it all. Due to the large scale in which fishing is carried out there are several formal units of Costa Rica fishing. There is a wide variety of fish that are available, like the Sailfish, Wahoo, Billfish, Roosterfish, Marlin, Dolphins, Tuna, Cubera, Snapper, Blue runners, Snook and various other unusual fish. One can fish in various places with a lot of success.

The primary center for fishing is the stretch between Gulf of Papagayo Flamingo Beach and Cabo Blanca that has a complete marina option.

Popular ports of the Pacific area that is used for fishing are Flamingo, Carrillo, Coco, Ocotal, Tamarindo, Golfito, Dominical, Punta Leona, Puntarenas, Zancudo, Quepos and Manuel Antonio, Drake Bay, Zancudo and Tambor.

Another popular area for fishing in the Central Pacific region is the stretch between Drake Bay Quepos and Cabo Blanco.

Golfito is probably the major juncture for fishing in the South Pacific region with two developed marinas.

The lodges that let you experience great fishing at the Caribbean are situated in Parismina, Barra del Colorado and Tortuguero.

In Costa Rica you can also enjoy Diving and Scuba Diving. Little discovered, and still uncrowded, Scuba divers travel here from all parts of the world to see thousands of hammerhead sharks and enormous schools of innumerable fish in our tropical, plankton rich water. The waters offshore also teem with marine life.

You can dive in calm transparent waters on the Caribbean coast or opt for the wilder and more spectacular Pacific side. Most good diving is on the Pacific side. The Caribbean reefs were decimated some years ago due to pesticide runoff from the banana plantations although the last two or three years have seen a definite return of life to the region. The best months are in September-November.

There are three main areas for diving on the Pacific Ocean side. The first area is Isla del Cano, located on the Osa Peninsula in southern Costa Rica. The other two lie in the northern province of Guanacaste.

Canoeing and kayaking is one of best low impact ways to enjoy this amazing area and sea kayak and canoe tours are designed with an educative emphasis that seeks to assure preservation of the environment for years to come. The warm, rushing rivers which sweep through Costa Rica’s lush countryside offer world class white water rafting and kayaking opportunities. Rafting enthusiasts from around the world try their skills against these wild and turbulent rivers.

River Rafting is also great. If you’re trying river rafting for the first time, there are gentle rapids and lovely places to just float through. Whichever type of experience you have, you will be paddling through prime nature viewing areas, and so you will likely see otters, herons, parrots and iguanas too.

Most of the rivers in Costa Rica flow towards the Caribbean. After a heavy rain they come to life, going from being a reasonable river to become a place to enjoy the best whitewater rafting. The waters of these rivers are fairly warm so you are not at all uncomfortable unless you are nervous about trying Costa Rica rafting. Experienced water goers can also try their hand at kayaking the rivers as well.

Boating in Costa Rica is the ultimate experience. There are several boat trips that are well worth doing and are perhaps the most interesting way to get from one region to another. Traveling by boat across the eastern end of Lake Arenal is expensive, but by far the fastest and most beautiful way to travel between Arenal and Monteverde. There is a fascinating four-hour boat trip from Puerto Viejo on the Sarapiqui River into Nicaragua on the San Juan and on the Tortuguero. The boat trip from Cano Blanco to Tortuguero is also worth doing.

This a small list of the water fum you can have in Costa Rica. A country blessed with beautiful beaches, tropical waters and peacefull energy, has a lot to offer, especially for the water sports lovers!

It has been said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There is nothing more beautiful than viewing the the Pacific Ocean Coast of Costa Rica. Costa Rica beach properties is a 630 mile coastline that features many bays, coves, and inlets that give the coastline its distinctive features. The famous Jaco Beach attracts many tourist to Costa Rica’s Pacific coast.

One thing for sure there is so much to do for tourist and locales. Hiking at Corvocado National Park and enjoying horseback riding at Rincon de Oso. Those staying on the mid Pacific coast of Costa Rica will have the chance to experience the adventure ATV tours at Quepos-Manual Antonio and the historical areas of Putaraenas. Imagine lying in the sun in Guanacaste on the northern coast which is home to some of the most exquisite Costa Rica beach property. Hermosa, Tamarindo, Nosara and Flamingo beaches are all prime locations. The amenities alone will ensure you of a good time on the Costa Rica Pacific coast.

One of the many great things about Costa Rica is that the Costa Rica economy is benefiting greatly from investors. Since Costa Rica is a real estate hotspot the Costa Rican government is permitting acres of Costa Rica land to be sold. The region is where a majority of the Costa Rica beach properties are currently located. This region is more developed than the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean coastline. Whether it’s for business or pleasure when you visit the Pacific coast remember the best time to go is December through April. If you like the rainy season May through November would be ideal. The funny thing about the country is that it’s only the size of West Virginia.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/All Airplanes Will Soon Lead to the New International Airport in the Costa Rica Pacific Coast

As a way to meet the needs of the nation and those visiting, investing, or doing business in Costa Rica the Costa Rican government decided to build a third international airport in the Southern Pacific coast region. The airport will provide much needed easy access to popular Southern Pacific coast destinations such as Palmer Sur, Quepos, Dominical, and the Peninsula de Osa.

The easy access to the Southern Pacific coast will result in more time for vacationing, and less travel time traveling to and from vacation spots. The need for a new international airport in Costa Rica is clear. With all of the nation’s international traffic from corporations doing business in Costa Rica, foreigners traveling on vacation, and investors looking to own a piece of the “Rich Coast” being funneled through one of Costa Rica’s two international airports, the strain on those international airports is too great. Travelers feel the strain too. Especially those headed to Costa Rica’s South Pacific coast for their final destination, a 3 hour drive over the beautiful landscapes of Costa Rica land.

Although 157 airports in Costa Rica may sound like a lot but when you look at the specific use and capabilities of the airports, you will clearly understand why the Costa Rican government needs to build a new international airport in Costa Rica. There are only two Costa Rica airports that have the capacity to handle international flights, a majority of the airports are for private use, only 32 of the airports in Costa Rica have paved runways and two dozen or less are serviced by regional airlines. The opening date is scheduled for 2010 and then the good times will really begin to roll on the Southern Pacific coast.

About Paradise Brokers

Paradise Brokers is really doing what it takes to make it easy for investors to obtain developed land at undeveloped prices in the South Pacific coastal region. Parcel choices range from golf course lots with ocean views, mountains, river or waterfall views and beautiful coastline property. Financing is available. Paradise Brokers employs licensed real estate agents in all four of their offices and are experienced to make all your travel, lodging and tourism arrangements and will provide transportation within Costa Rica to view your property. This program comes with 100% money back guarantee.
