Rodgers and Hammerstein?s South Pacific Tickets- See O?hara Bring the Magic to Stage

As if great costuming and amazing music weren’t enough of a reason to get Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific tickets, here is another one: Kelli O’Hara. O’Hara’s work with South Pacific has given her a third Tony Award nomination. O’Hara plays Nellie Forbush a self-proclaimed hick from Arkansas and a never-ending optimist. O’Hara’s whole-hearted acceptance of the role has led to recognition and praise. O’Hara loved the role because of the confrontation of racism and her character’s ability to change.

The classic play began its run in 1949. The World War II setting was timely, but it was the deeper themes and original music that kept this show timely for decades. The story revolves around two couples, Nellie, Frenchman Emile de Becque, Marine Lt. Joseph Cable and young local Vietnamese girl name Liat. Nellie originally falls for Emile but has second thoughts when she learns of his two bi-racial children. Joseph also hesitates because of his prejudices. Rodgers and Hammerstein drive home their point about prejudices being taught with songs like “You’ve Got to Be Carefully Taught.” The musical taught tolerance years before civil rights movements and make Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific tickets a treasure worth finding. Other hit songs from the play include “Some Enchanted Evening” and “A Wonderful Guy.”

O’Hara started her career on Broadway in 2000 with a role in Jekyll and Hyde. Since then she has performed in both Broadway and off-Broadway productions like Dracula, The Musical and The Light in the Piazza. O’Hara also released her first solo album, which hit stores May 6, 2008. “Wonder in the World” is an eclectic album with songs by her husband Greg Naughton and Harry Connick Jr. as well as a song from The Light in the Piazza. Connick also accompanies O’Hara on the piano on all but two of the tracks. Along with her music and stage performances, O’Hara has also had roles in TV and film including an appearance on NUMB3RS on CBS.

O’Hara seems to slip seamlessly into any role she accepts. This last year, she played the famous Eliza Doolittle in the New York Philharmonic production of My Fair Lady. Her other Tony nominations were for her roles in The Light in the Piazza and The Pajama Game. Her talent is easily seen in her latest endeavor, South Pacific. Don’t miss another of O’Hara’s award-worthy performances and get a pair of tickets to Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific today!

Are Tamanu Aitutaki Could Be The Most Romantic Hotel In The South Pacific

Of all the South Pacific destinations, it is arguable that the Are Tamanu Aitutaki, one of the top Cook Island luxury resorts is in fact the most romantic hotel in the South Pacific.

If you are going on a romantic vacation, or your honeymoon for that matter and you have in mind a South Pacific destination, then in my opinion the Are Tamanu Aitutaki ranks amongst the top five worlds best beach resorts, and I hope to be able to convince you that this is the case from my own personal experience.

Are Tamanu is not a five star resort, and I am accustomed to this type of hotel, so I was somewhat apprehensive before setting out, despite the fact that my husband was absolutely certain that I would think it was the most romantic resort in the South Pacific.

The first thing to know is you have to arrive at Rarotonga and then catch another short flight to Aitutaki. You quickly realise you are in another world, not only because of the spectacular views from the aircraft, but also because in the very few minutes it takes you to get to the hotel you realise that what they mean by a road is really a sand track.

I found this whole environment so much more romantic that Tahiti, so much less commercialised, so much more the authentic South Pacific of my dreams.

It is the colors that hit you first, the shockingly bright blues, turquoises, greens, and the white of the beaches, it is extraordinary.

The huge beautiful lagoon is almost beyond description, and there was our resort sitting right next to it!!

The rooms were large, and clean, and comfortable, but not modern. Having said that they were what I’d always imagined South Pacific to be, and I just fell in love with the place, the people, just everything. No TV or radio was another bonus, this was just bare feet paradise – my husband couldn’t spend his time on the phone to the office, or his laptop for that matter.

The food in the restaurant was good and reasonably priced, we went for a cruise around the lagoon, and I got to go to islands with wonderful names like One Foot Island where we had a superb BBQ lunch. I also discovered this is where they film Survivor, and also visited the beautiful Honeymoon Island.

The whole vacation at Are Tamanu was just so relaxing, but to me the real highlights were the local people, so genuinely friendly, the clors, and the snorkelling right in front of our door so to speak.

I definitely think we stayed in one of the most romantic hotels in the South Pacific if not the most romantic

South Pacific the Musical Has Everything a Theatre Fan Desires!

When two couples fall in love with each other during a war, history is created and so is South Pacific the musical! Based on a couple of short stories by James A. Michener in his Pulitzer Prize winning book “Tales of the South Pacific”, this musical is so powerful, you can’t ignore it!

Directed by Bartlett Sher and written by Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan,” South Pacific” is a tale of struggling love. It also speaks of the less spoken topics like racism. The songs like “Some Enchanted Evening”, “Balin Ha’i”, A Wonderful Guy”, and “Younger than Springtime” have spread their message across the world and have become archetypal.

This is one story that will move your mind, body and soul. As you step out of the theatre after watching the show, you’ll be compelled to think about the issues considered in it. “South Pacific” is no ordinary musical. Nor is it a simple love story. It’s a story that brings out the cruel realities of war and also depicts the effects of racism and prejudices.

South Pacific the musical that has created history on Broadway, is not just a stirring story, but is a collective endeavor of the creative team. The sets that make the story look real are designed by Michael Yeargan; the costumes that highlight each character in depth are created by Catherine Zuber; the terrific sounds that makes you feel that war is going on right here is given by Scott Lehrer; and the perfect lights that make each scene come alive are arranged by Donald Holder.

The star cast includes Mathew Morrison of the “Sex and the City” fame. He plays the lead role of Lt. Joe Cable. Morrison was also seen in the hit show “Hairspray” as Link Larkin. For his role in “A Light in the Piazza,” he was nominated for the Tony award.

The talented Kelli O’Hara can be seen in the lead role as Nellie Forbush. Kelli had won laurels for her role in “A Light in the Piazza” as well as “The Pajama Game” for which she got a Tony nomination.

A concert version of this musical was produced in 2005. Before that, a movie has also been inspired from it. Both gained much appreciation from the audience.

Once again, “South Pacific” has come to the town to conquer your heart and mind. The musical is scheduled to open at Vivian Beamont Theatre on April 4, 2008. All the theatre fans are waiting with bated breath to watch their favorites stars perform and to know whether love takes over war or vice versa.

So, don’t waste another minute! Tickets are getting booked in matter of seconds. If you delay, you lose. Rather than pushing your way to the box office, why not call a number and get your tickets delivered at the doorstep? Great idea!

Ticketing services have become a rage thanks to successful Broadway productions! For theatre fans like you, they are good news, as you don’t have to miss shows any more!

Among the Broadway Musicals South Pacific is Supreme!

Among all the Broadway musicals, “South Pacific” has the most powerful songs and a thought provoking storyline. What happens when people fall in love with each other during a war? Do they remain under the mercy of the wrath of war? Or can they emerge as winners?

“South Pacific” has created history not only for its love story interwoven with war-time, but also for highlighting the taboo topics of racism and prejudice. Eyebrows were raised. Creators were pressurized. However, there emerged a musical story that created history and became one of the greatest musicals on Broadway.

The author of the book “Tales of the South Pacific” had to ask the creators of the musical, Hammerstein and Rodgers, to remove the song “You’ve got to be carefully taught” because it contained certain harsh comments on racism.

Last shown in 1949 at the Majestic Theatre, “South Pacific” is again ready to set the stage on fire by its blatant expression of emotions at the Vivian Beamont Theatre on April 4, 2008. It’s nearly after 6 decades that the audience will get a chance to see the marvelous work of Richard Rodgers (music composer), Oscar Hammerstein II (lyricist), and James A. Michener (original writer of the book).

In 1948, the book won Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, while in 1950, the musical won Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It’s also the only musical of its kind to win four Tony Awards!

The story is set in the backdrop of World War II. It revolves around two couples who fall in love with each other amidst war. Nellie is a nurse in the US Navy while Emile is an owner of local plantation. They both love each other. On the other hand, Lt. Joe Cable and young local Liat start loving each other. Now, the big question is: Will the two couples get a chance to live their love or will the cruel war take over them?

Among the Broadway musicals, “South Pacific” is one of the most intriguing love stories that you can ever see. The issue of racism and prejudices is handled with care and intelligence in this musical. Although the story makes you to think about certain issues, overall, it’s an entertainer.

Watch the show with your family or watch alone; watch with your friends or take your partner with you – do whatever, but watch this show! It’s a strong love story; in fact, there are two short stories blended as one.

The tickets to the Broadway musical “South Pacific” are already starting to vanish from the box office! If you don’t want to be disappointed, rush to book your tickets. There are also easier ways to get to the theatre – call a number or log online. The ticketing services will see to it that you get tickets of your choice show, even front row seats!

So, are you ready to know the realities of war? Do you want to know what happens to love when it takes place during a war? If yes, then pick your phone now and book!

South Pacific Musical is All About Love and War!

South Pacific musical is not what it seems to be. It’s neither a complete war story nor a total love story. It’s an interwoven tale of two couples who are caught in the web of war wrath and their own prejudices. They are people who want to love and commit, but are held back by their own thoughts that arise out of racism.

The South Pacific Musical Set

Inspired by the terrific work of James A. Michener, South Pacific musical is a depiction of two short stories taken from his book “Tales of the South Pacific.” The show was first shown in 1949 at the Majestic Theater. It created waves then! At present, the show is running at Vivian Beamont Theater since April 4, 2008. Even today, it is drawing a huge audience. A movie has also been made from this musical. A concert version of this show was held at the Carnegie Hall in 2005.

The lead pair of the current version of South Pacific musical includes Kellie O’Hara in the role of Nellie, who is a US Navy nurse. She falls in love with Emile de Becque, a plantation owner in the play. The character of Lt. Joe Cable is played by Mathew Morrison. This character falls for a young local Liat. The story is built on the backdrop of World War II.

War affects every aspect of people’s lives. It also affects love. So, when both these couples plan to commit and start a new life with each other, it’s war that comes in between them. Can the couples overcome the aftereffects of war to commit to each other? How do they deal with racism? These are some questions that will be answered at the Vivian Beamont Theater.

South Pacific musical is no ordinary show. It has won a Pulitzer and four Tony Awards. Besides, there are talented people like Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II behind the production of the show, not to forget the entire creative crew which has left no stone unturned to make this show one of the greatest musicals of Broadway.

There’s even a tour going on for the UK production of this show. The tour started in 2007 from the Blackpool Grand Theater. It will end in July 2008 at the Cardiff New Theater. The star cast of the tour show includes Helena Blackman playing the role of Nellie and Dave Willetts playing the role of Emile. Martin Dodd and Peter Frosdick have produced the show, while Julian Woolford has directed it. Chris Hocking has given wonderful choreography.

South Pacific musical contains songs like “Some Enchanted Evening”, “Bali Hai”, and “Nothing like a Dame.” These songs have the power to stir your senses. They have been created by the equally powerful duo, Rodgers and Hammerstein!

So, get ready to experience war live on stage! No, you won’t be injured nor would you cry. Instead, you’ll be left completely entertained and pondering over how small issues can crop up in human minds and turn into something as serious as war!
