South America, The All Year Holiday Destination

If you’re looking to enjoy a holiday outside of the usual tourist seasons and are considering somewhere like South America, you could be worried that you won’t find the great experience you’re looking for – but you shouldn’t be. The continent of South America is an excellent holiday destination and, with a climate that varies greatly from the north to the south, one that can be enjoyed all year round. This bounteous land is packed with excitement and thrilling things to do and see, from the chance to take to the waters of the Amazon to tackle the peaks of Patagonia.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy lively nightlife as well as days on the beaches, then somewhere like Brazil could be just what you’re looking for. South America is home to such a variety of attractions that you’re sure to find somewhere to suit, no matter what your preferred holiday style.

For example, surrounded by the Caribbean, South Pacific and South Atlantic Ocean, you can rest assured that there are many fantastic beaches to enjoy in South America. Brazil’s north-eastern region is particularly good for beaches, and if you’re hoping to see a truly amazing stretch of sand then El Agua in Venezuala is a must see.

If you’re after a cooler air and some adrenaline boosting activities, then skiing in South America’s Andes mountain range could be just the thrill for you. Best enjoyed during the summer months, the slopes of Argentina and Chile are ideal for any keen snowboarders or skiers who are hoping to enjoy an active holiday.

Activities that don’t involve snow are also easy to come by, including seeing many exotic animals up close on the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador or the national park of Bolivia. If you’re a history buff, you’ll love a trek to Machu Picchu in Peru, where you’ll find ancient Incan ruins, but if it’s a party atmosphere you’re in search of then a trip to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil or Buenos Aires in Argentina is sure to satisfy.

One of the best things about South America is something that lasts the whole year – its musicality and welcoming atmosphere. The continent is home to many musical styles, but what all of the countries share is a lively spirit and the willingness to include travellers. Those booking flights to South America are sure to find a fabulous holiday waiting for them, whatever time of year they are travelling.

Volunteering in Chile can be an amazing learning experience, one that you are unlikely to forget. Pretty much isolated from the rest of the world.

Chile’s natural barriers such as the most arid desert in the world, the Andes Mountain range, the Pacific Ocean, and the ice fields in Southern Patagonia, offers such a tremendous amount of diversity to this extended and thin country that it’s considered as the jewel of South American continent.

Much loved and popular, it is said that in Chile you are never too far from the sea, the mountains, or the desert. Currently, on an economic fast track, Chile is now experiencing a newer and improved socioeconomic stability as compared to the other South American countries.

However, this capitalistic approach has ended up widening the gap between the economically richer and poorer sections of the society. As a volunteer to Chile, you will have many opportunities to do something really worthwhile as you travel from one city to another, helping people to gaining emotional, financial, and physical independence.

Why Volunteer In Chile

With 5,000 kms of South Pacific coastline, Chile is a wonderfully blessed with pristine beaches, and plenty of tourist activity. Furthermore, Chile can also lay claim to some portion of Antarctica and if these reasons are not enough for you for volunteering in Chile then consider this.

Across the nation, there are several NGOs that are willing to accept you as volunteer to help them in their attempts to improve housing for the poor, provide assistance for academic development, work with drug addicts, offer expertise at medical health centers, and show compassion towards the homeless and much more.

Why not take a year’s gap to volunteer in Chile as well as travel this country, which is a contradiction and reflection of global landscapes?

Types Of Projects Available in Chile

For those of you who find volunteering in Chile a challenge as well as an opportunity to contribute to the society in a solid way, Chile volunteering projects come in varied types demanding different levels of skills.

Whether you enjoy working with drug abusers, for have a passion for languages, or want to teach children and make them better adults, or work to improve the position of women in the society, or perhaps, you are a die-hard animal lover and want to do your bit to improve the apathetical outlook of people towards them; you will most certainly find volunteering in Chile personally satisfying.

Community Welfare programs: Volunteering in Chile for community welfare programs include delivering food for homeless people, doing social work in poor communities, teaching at various education centers, taking care of children at day care centers, assisting the homeless and terminally ill patients, etc.

Education programs: Assisting as a teacher in rural schools will offer you the opportunities to teach the locals various subjects such as Math, Science, geography, history, even crafts, arts, knitting, etc.

Teach English programs: If you can also teach conversational English to children, women, and adults thus, helping them to make the best of global opportunities, which demand knowledge in English language.

As a volunteer in Chile on this project, you will work with teenaged children who are currently in youth shelters due to sexual abuse, neglect, or abandoned by their family. These shelters give children a safe place to study, live, and develop.

Building Homes programs: As a volunteer in Chile for building and repairing homes/buildings project, you get the opportunity to leave an indelible mark of your contribution.

You can help build homes or help repair existing homes, build educational set-ups for underprivileged families and orphans. Such kind of volunteering in Chile programs help you build lasting relationships at the personal level with the locals. Of course, if you have similar knowledge that a huge plus!

Conservation program: A broad term, conservation is applicable to environmental conservation as well as architecture and natural heritage conservation. While most volunteering in Chile conservation projects includes animal conservation such as animal rehabilitation centers, or reserves, you can also participate in breeding and rehabilitation of specific spices of animals.

Volunteering in Chile Requirements

1. No experience or qualifications required

2. Must be 18 or over 18 years of age

3. Should be free from all health problems

Fee and Other details

Every project has a fee attached, which is taken in advance and used for providing food, accommodation, comprehensive travel insurance, in-country travel, fund raising ideas etc.

Conclusion

Leave a never to be forgotten mark on the world map by volunteering in Chile!

Set between the Caribbean, the South Pacific, and the South Atlantic Oceans, South America is the land of attractions. This continent can also be referred as the land of superlatives. The continent is the home to Amazon, The world’s biggest rainforest, Angel Falls, the world’s tallest waterfall, and Patagonia & Tierra del Fuego, the frozen landscapes. While the Remote islands like Galapagos Islands, Easter Island and Fernando de Noronha are great attractions of South America, the pristine beaches in Brazil’s Northeastern region also have their own magic.

Apart from breathtaking natural attractions, South America treasures ruins of ancient civilizations. Machu Picchu and other Inca cities are fine examples of these. One can also explore the Serra da Capivara, the oldest rock paintings or admire the modern architecture of Brasilia. While traveling to South America, do not miss out the chance to take part in colorful festivities.  Some of the most remarkable names in this context include Rio’s Carnival, the Vendimia festival and Belem’s Cirio de Nazare, etc. Featuring all these fascinating attractions, South America continues to allure visitors like no other place on the earth.

South America, the southern continent of the Americas, covers about 3.5% of world’s total land area that is approx 17,840,000 square kilometers. It is surrounded by Pacific Ocean to the west and north, the Atlantic to the east, North America and the Caribbean Sea to the northwest. South America consists of 15 countries. The continent has a population of approx 371,090,000.

Machu Picchu, Peru: Machu Picchu, the fortress city of the Incas is situated 8,000 feet above sea level. This pre-Columbian ruin is the scared symbols of the Inca Empire. Constructed, during 1430 AD, this ruin was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 1983. Situated on a mountain ridge, Machu Picchu was made in the traditional Inca style.

Salar de Uyuni: Salar de Uyuni, largest salt flat in the world is one of the major attractions in Bolivia. 3,656 meters above the sea level, it is located near the peak of the Andes. Salar de Uyuni is at present a dried hill with enormous cacti. In this site you can explore tourist areas like Bloques de Sal, Salt-mining area, Laguna Colorada, Laguna Celeste, Valles de Rocas, Train Graveyard and Laguna Hedionda.
