Romantic Wedding Destination in French Polynesia

Wedding is once in a lifetime event for couples and hence should be celebrated in a unique way. A variety of options are open to you in order to make your wedding truly special. One of the best options would be to conduct your wedding in any of the incredible destinations outside your home country.

Among the wedding destinations, probably the best would be the French Polynesian Islands in the South Pacific. Better known by the name of its main island, Tahiti, French Polynesia is truly an amazing destination to exchange your marriage vows.

French Polynesia is an archipelago consisting of 118 islands, which are categorized into five island groups, such as, Society Islands, Tuamotu Islands, Marquisas Islands, Gambier Islands, and Austral Islands. Each of the islands found here is unique, and is especially noted for its picturesque surroundings consisting of palm fringed beaches, sparkling blue lagoons, rich flora and fauna, and the breathtaking turquoise sea. In short, Tahiti and its island are among the most romantic destinations on the planet.

The biggest as well as the main island in the French Polynesia, Tahiti in the Society group of islands is one of the most popular wedding destinations in the South Pacific. With its lush world consisting of dazzling waterfalls, soaring mountains, amazing plateaus, and pools, Tahiti provides a perfect base for weddings and honeymoons.

Bora Bora is yet another popular destination for weddings in French Polynesia, which is bestowed with towering volcanic peaks, lush green vegetation, and beautiful lagoons filled with rare as well as colorful fish and corals. To enjoy an authentic Polynesian wedding ceremony, a best destination would be Moorea, which is home to the much famed Tiki Village Cultural Center, a favored spot to perform traditional Polynesian royal weddings.

The Tiki Village provides options for three types of wedding ceremonies including the Princess Wedding, the Royal Wedding, and the Royal Deluxe Wedding. The Princess Wedding is complete with an exotic Tahitian village, the service of the village chief as well as the High priest to conduct the wedding ceremony, local musicians and dancers, beautiful crowns and garlands made of exotic flowers, photos of the ceremony, and a marriage certificate made of Tapa.

Included in the Royal Wedding packages are arrival of bride and groom from the hotel in a canoe, carrying of the couples by the Polynesian warriors in a royal chair on completion of the marriage ceremony, a romantic cruise on a royal canoe accompanied by musicians, and honeymoon night on a royal floating house. When comes to the Royal Deluxe Wedding, it combines all of the above, apart from a choir of Tahitian people singing during the wedding ceremony and a fabulous Tahitian dance show.

Popular wedding destinations in French Polynesia also include Rangiroa – the second largest atoll in the world. Situated in the Tuamotu Archipelago, Rangiroa boasts of stunning views comprising vast lagoon with stunning marine life. Qamea, Yasawa Islands, and Rarotonga, are the other great islands ideal for wedding functions, among many others are the sought after destinations for weddings.

No matter you have chosen which French Polynesian destination for your wedding, a traditional Polynesian ceremony is wonderful, unforgettable, and is considered a dream comes true. On the wedding day, the bride to be is treated like a princess, and the women of the village pamper her with aromatic flowers and Tahitian Monoi oils. Then dress her in Tahitian clothing. On the other hand, the groom is taken to a nearby beach to get tattooed. He is then dressed like a High Chief. After this, he returns the wedding spot. Mostly, the wedding ceremony is conducted in the Tahitian language, and there would be an interpreter to translate it to the couples. On the completion of the ceremony, champagne is served, which is followed by a wonderful Tahitian dance show.

However, weddings conducted in Tahiti are not legally recognized in the US. Hence, the United States residents interested in getting married here are recommended to have a legal ceremony in the US, and then come here to renew your marriage vows with a traditional Polynesian wedding ceremony. Further, there are certain requirements in order to get married in the Tahitian islands, such as at least one month of residency in French Polynesia prior to the marriage, birth certificates of both bride and groom, a copy of the notarized marriage contract, and celibacy certificate.

Many upscale resorts and hotels in French Polynesia offer superb packages for a memorable wedding. In most cases, the wedding packages are inclusive of assistance of a wedding planner to plan your wedding, traditional Tahitian wedding ceremony, a bottle of champagne, a sunset cruise, romantic dinner, and pictures of wedding ceremony taken by a professional photographer. These packages are also customized according to your specifications.

If you’ve been dreaming of traveling abroad and experiencing some of the most beautiful and exotic destinations in the world, there’s no better choice than taking a relaxing cruise. In stark contrast to the endless lines of crabby travelers, crowded airport terminals or long hours behind the wheel that other vacation options feature, cruises let you sit back with a tropical drink in your hand as you travel effortlessly to your destination.

If you’re worried that cruising is better suited to younger travelers, think again. Although many cruise lines have recently touted family packages in order to expand business, seniors still make up a very sizable chunk of each ship’s roster of passengers. One of the most relaxing yet stimulating ways to see the world, cruises only require their guests to be young at heart.

If you’ve never been on a cruise before, a world of relaxation, fun and remarkable landscapes awaits you. Take a few moments to learn the basics of what you can expect on your future cruise and consider a few popular destinations worth looking into.

Accommodations

The first thing you’ll need to consider when finally booking your cruise is accommodations. The accommodation fee is your pass for boarding the ship and includes your quarters as well as most basic amenities, including meals. Rooms aboard cruise ships vary greatly and can match any traveler’s needs or budget.

The most lavish and spacious cabins on cruise ships are located near the top deck and on a side. They always offer large windows and sometimes even feature private balconies where you can relax and take in a Caribbean sunset or two along the way. Of course, these rooms are also the most expensive, but their cost is well worth the privacy and space you’ll enjoy.

More outgoing or budget minded travelers may opt for a more reasonable rate, which will be more in line with smaller rooms on a lower deck. The most affordable cabins aboard most ships will be located near the center and close to or below the water line, which means no windows. These rooms, however are usually the most stable and can be a great value for travelers who plan to use their rooms only for sleeping.

Activities on the Ship

Cruise ships are something like floating resort towns. As cruise lines continue to add bigger and more luxurious ships to their fleets year after year, your options for excitement, entertainment and unique experiences increase exponentially. Depending on the cruise you book, you can expect to find anything from a full sized ice skating rink to a rock climbing wall and more during your trip.

Cruise ships offer plenty of things to do for both busy bodies and travelers who would prefer to kick back and unwind. Party animals will find no good excuses to miss out on a whole daily schedule of mingling opportunities, Broadway style and quality shows, comedians, live bands, movies, casinos and more. For active guests, ships also feature fully outfitted gyms with daily classes, lots of pools and even water parks.

For the more relaxation fixated guests, top of the line spas offer soothing treatments for the body and mind while few things can beat lounging on deck with a cold drink. Couples will enjoy lots of opportunities to relax in privacy as well in several spas and hot tubs.

Activities on Shore and Destinations

Of course, the main purpose for taking a cruise is getting out and seeing the world. There are virtually as many destination possibilities offered by major cruise lines today, and your options are limited only by navigable ports. Here are a few cruise lovers’ favorites to get your ideas flowing.

Alaska

For nature lovers and adventure seekers, nothing beats the spectacular vistas and personal hands on experiences of an Alaskan cruise. In addition to taking in the amazing sights of North America’s wild western coast from the comfort of your ship, you’ll get to learn how to mush a team of sled dogs and trek across an active glacier on this trip.

The Caribbean

Perhaps the most well known of cruise destinations, the Caribbean islands offer near perfect weather, white sand beaches and warm, clear waters that are well known for their world class snorkeling and scuba diving.

Tahiti and the South Pacific

Regarded as a veritable paradise on earth, the South Pacific offers some of the most exotic landscapes and cultures you’re likely to encounter on a cruise. This amazing trip will let you experience the slow paced lifestyle of Tahiti while exploring tropical coves and secluded palm lined beaches.

Regardless of your age or disposition, cruising represents one of the most incredible, exciting and relaxing vacations available to travelers today. Take a few moments now to do some research on the cruise vacation of a lifetime.

Cruise Vacations vs. Ordinary Vacations

Cruise vacations are becoming more and more popular with each passing year. South America, The All Year Holiday Destination

Edit Article |

If you’re looking to enjoy a holiday outside of the usual tourist seasons and are considering somewhere like South America, you could be worried that you won’t find the great experience you’re looking for – but you shouldn’t be. The continent of South America is an excellent holiday destination and, with a climate that varies greatly from the north to the south, one that can be enjoyed all year round. This bounteous land is packed with excitement and thrilling things to do and see, from the chance to take to the waters of the Amazon to tackle the peaks of Patagonia.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy lively nightlife as well as days on the beaches, then somewhere like Brazil could be just what you’re looking for. South America is home to such a variety of attractions that you’re sure to find somewhere to suit, no matter what your preferred holiday style.

For example, surrounded by the Caribbean, South Pacific and South Atlantic Ocean, you can rest assured that there are many fantastic beaches to enjoy in South America. Brazil’s north-eastern region is particularly good for beaches, and if you’re hoping to see a truly amazing stretch of sand then El Agua in Venezuala is a must see.

If you’re after a cooler air and some adrenaline boosting activities, then skiing in South America’s Andes mountain range could be just the thrill for you. Best enjoyed during the summer months, the slopes of Argentina and Chile are ideal for any keen snowboarders or skiers who are hoping to enjoy an active holiday.

Activities that don’t involve snow are also easy to come by, including seeing many exotic animals up close on the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador or the national park of Bolivia. If you’re a history buff, you’ll love a trek to Machu Picchu in Peru, where you’ll find ancient Incan ruins, but if it’s a party atmosphere you’re in search of then a trip to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil or Buenos Aires in Argentina is sure to satisfy.

One of the best things about South America is something that lasts the whole year – its musicality and welcoming atmosphere. The continent is home to many musical styles, but what all of the countries share is a lively spirit and the willingness to include travellers. Those booking flights to South America are sure to find a fabulous holiday waiting for them, whatever time of year they are travelling.

Remember back when people used to travel around the world by boat? You didn’t have to be an explorer to do so, you just had to be someone in search of adventure, or simply trying to get from A to B. Nowadays, travelling by sea has become somewhat of a luxury, namely if you’re lucky enough to be on a yacht. There’s something about being in the middle of a body of water and travelling to corners of the world you would never otherwise be able to reach, that is just absolutely magnificent. Here are some corners worth reaching.

1. Carribean

The Caribbean is a great place to charter a yacht. The reason for this is that most of its destinations have protected waters that are easy to navigate. Moreover, the marinas are full service and the airports are easy to access. And of course, the waters are turquoise, the weather is fabulous, and the people are full of life. There are few parts of the world that offer such wonderful music, food, and nightlife, whilst also being the perfect beach destination to go and relax.

2. Far East

For those adventurers eager to explore the wonders and mysteries of exotic islands, yachting through the Far East is where you ought to be. It is isolated and absolutely gorgeous. From white sand, hidden beaches, amazing coral reefs, to stones jutting out of emerald waters, this destination has everything to offer. There is so much history and culture in this part of the world, that just floating down its waters makes you feel like you’re sailing through the past.

3. Mediterranean

The great thing about yachting through the Med is that there are so many places to visit, each more beautiful then the last. From Turkey to Greece, the coast of Italy, to the South of France, it is easy to explore some of the most culturally rich parts of the world all in one trip. Decide on your route, hoist your sail, and keep your eyes open because you are guaranteed to see some of the most beautiful places on Earth.

4. South Pacific

There’s nothing quite as enchanting as sailing through the South Pacific. From coral lagoons, to swaying palms, charming villages, and crystal blue water, this region has a way of enveloping you and making you never want to leave. Dive in the Great Barrier Reef, enjoy the Polynesian cuisine, or watch the Humpback Whales- better yet, do it all!

5. Indian Ocean

You will never again experience the excitement and delight that comes from cruising down the Indian Ocean and seeing all of the incredible wildlife that surrounds it. You are sure to move from vast bodies water into small canals and streams where the only sound is that of mother nature. Enjoy the pristine white sand beaches, snorkel in the reef, camp out in dark coves, or chill out along the waters less travelled.

Choosing Your Romantic Honeymoon Destination

Edit Article |

]]>

All newlyweds want to have a romantic honeymoon.  The problem is in deciding what is the ultimate romantic honeymoon destination for you.  Some will already have a destination in mind, but others will still be undecided.  Here are some things to consider when picking out the romantic honeymoon destination that is ideal just for you.

Many people just naturally think of a tropical place for their romantic honeymoon.  Tropical honeymoons include warm ocean breezes, refreshing tropical drinks, moonlit walks on the beach, candlelight dinners and the sounds of waves breaking in the background.  A tropical honeymoon is hard to beat.

The first tropical destination most people think of is Hawaii.  A romantic honeymoon in Hawaii may include island hopping or just spending your entire honeymoon vacation on one island enjoying miles of beach and warm blue ocean waters.  Either way, you will enjoy the Hawaiian people who will go out of their way to make your honeymoon memorable.

More exotic honeymoon destinations include the islands of the South Pacific such as Fiji or Bora Bora.  These exotic islands will take your romantic honeymoon vacation to a whole other level.  Newlyweds vacationing in these South Pacific Islands will feel like they have these magical locations all to themselves.  Because they are tucked away in an out-of-the-way corner of the Pacific Ocean, they will make a honeymoon a wonderful and truly relaxing experience.

For the couple that wishes to save some money but still have the wonderful experience of a tropical honeymoon they might want to consider Mexico.  The Mayan Riviera would be the place to go to get away from the crowds of Acapulco and Cancun.  The Riviera has a ton of all-inclusive resorts to choose from where you can enjoy the tropical beaches and still not break the bank.

If you want to avoid the hassle of passports and language differences, there are many romantic resorts to chose from in the United States.  It may not be a tropical beach that is calling to you, but the glitz and glamour of a big city.  One choice would be Las Vegas.  Here you will find year-round entertainment that is unlike that found anywhere else.  Another big city choice would be New York City where you will find a wealth of entertainment opportunities including Broadway shows.  Of course there is always the exciting Times Square to explore.  When in New York you will have the opportunity to eat at some of the most romantic and famous restaurants in the world.  A romantic honeymoon in New York will be complete with the choice of many world class hotels.

If you are looking for culture and history for your romantic honeymoon vacation, then a honeymoon in the old country, Europe will be just what you are looking for.  Romantic overtones are found in England, Spain, France and Italy.  The culture and history of these countries will make for a truly romantic honeymoon vacation.

It’s not at all hard to find a romantic honeymoon destination.  The hard part comes in deciding which location is the one that you and your new spouse want to spend your romantic honeymoon vacation.  No matter which destination you choose, you are sure to be left with a lifetime of  romantic memories.

French Polynesia – A Heavenly Destination

Sprawling over an area that is roughly about the size of the Western Europe, French Polynesia is an astounding destination in the southern Pacific Ocean. Boasting of mind blowing scenery, stupendous mountain peaks, dazzling waterfalls, magnificent valleys filled with aromatic flowers, isolated beaches and islands, incredible lagoons, and turquoise waters, French Polynesia is an overseas nation within the French Republic, and is made up of five archipelagos such as the Society Island, the Austral Island, the Gambier Islands, the Marquesas Islands, and the Tuamotu Island groups.

French Polynesia is better known by the name of its main island, Tahiti, which is in Society Archipelago. Each of the island groups in French Polynesia has its own significance, and is noted for its unique culture as well as ethnicity. Further, all of the 118 islands are much popular among the holidaymakers from across the world.

Most popular among the island groups in French Polynesia is the Society Archipelago, which covers such incredible destinations as Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea, Huahine, and Tahaa and Raiatea. Crystal-like clear water, breathtaking beaches as well as coral reefs, soaring volcanic peaks, and beautiful waterfalls – all sum up the island of Tahiti, which is not only the most prominent island in Society Group but also in whole of French Polynesia.

Sometimes acknowledged as the ‘Island of Love,’ Tahiti includes two island masses such as Tahiti-Nui and Tahiti-Iti, both of which are connected by an isthmus, namely, the Plateau of Taravao. Further, Tahiti is also home to the capital as well as the bustling port of Papeete, which in turn houses an array of police headquarters, government offices, airline and travel agencies, banks, and telecommunications center.

Al though Tahiti is the main island in French Polynesia, Bora Bora is the most beautiful as well as romantic of all islands in the South Pacific. One of its specialties is brilliant multicolored lagoon, which contains an array of rare as well as beautiful marine species.

The beauty of the island is further enhanced by two majestic mountains that dominate the island, such as, the Mount Otemanu and the Mount Pahia. Bora Bora is also much famed for its mythical and mysterious legends. Hence, it is not a wonder why the island is much sought after among the honeymooners, newly weds, and couples celebrating their anniversaries.

When Tahiti is bestowed with the title ‘The Island of Love,’ and Bora Bora acknowledged as the most beautiful destination on the earth, Moorea is referred to as the magical island, with its jagged volcanic peak, beautiful crystalline lagoons, and isolated small motus. Located just ten miles from Tahiti, Moorea’s focal point is Tiki Village, which is frequented by couples who want to celebrate their marriage or renew their wedding vows in a special way.

When comes to the Huahine, it is popular among the vacationers as the Garden Island. Located about 120 miles north-west of Tahiti, Huahine is easily accessible from Bora Bora, Tahaa, and Raiatea. Other not to miss destinations in Society Archipelago is Tahaa, also known as the Vanilla Island, and Raiatea, otherwise called the Sacred Island.

With more than 75 coral atolls spread across more than 100 miles in the eastern Pacific, Taumotu Islands is made up of such magnificent islands as Rangiroa – the largest atoll in the archipelago; Manihi, noted for its clear lagoon; and Fakarava – a rectangular shaped atoll. Located about 1500 kilometers north-east of Tahiti is the Marquesas Islands, which consists of 12 volcanic islands, of which only six are inhabited. Gambier Archipelago is situated about 1500 kilometers south-east of Tahiti, and is home is to about 14 tiny mountainous islands, among which the largest as well as the most populated is Mangareva. Above all, Austral Islands is located south of Tahiti, and is well-known for its unique art and culture.

All of these island groups provide a spectrum of options for visitors to indulge in a myriad of activities, from land and water sport activities to fun-filled and adventure activities. Just few among them are deep sea fishing, parasailing, kayaking, diving, 4×4 safari tours, hiking, climbing, and much more. Likewise, for sightseers, a plethora of options are available. For instance, Bora Bora in Society Archipelago provides a continuum of attractions in the form of ancient Maraes and remnants of World War II.

With these scores of attractions and activities to enjoy, French Polynesia draws vacationers from every nook and corner of the world. Hence, it has accommodation to cater to every taste and budget. Perhaps the most popular choice among the honeymooners and newly weds is over water bungalows, which are complete with most sophisticated amenities and facilities.

Destination Overview: the South Pacific

by Roy Witman

Just say “South Pacific” and immediately images of little grass huts, palm trees swaying in the balmy breeze and electric-blue water pop to mind. Defined by Princess Cruises and other cruise lines as the Hawaiian and Tahitian islands, the South Pacific comprises several of the most popular “one day” destinations on the earth (with most people promising themselves they’ll go there “one day”).

It’s well worth the effort and the money! The term “paradise” really doesn’t do this region justice. “Perfection” may be more in line with what you’ll find. The natural scenery everywhere you look is simply astonishing. Mother Nature has created displays in this area of the world that aren’t replicated anywhere else. For those who love beauty, warm weather, gorgeous beaches and a variety of water activities, the South Pacific may be calling to you.

Hawaii

The Big Island of Hawaii may be the most frequently visited of the seven islands with Maui and Oahu following close behind. But don’t discount Kauai, Molokai or the others, as each offers a diverse experience all its own.

Known for its exceptional collection of active volcanoes, the island of Hawaii offers many opportunities to fly, ride, bike or walk right up on the rim of these massive mountains. Fire pits, lava tubes and more will keep you enthralled. If walking a green is more appealing than walking the rim of a volcano, world-class golf with some of the most awe-inspiring fairways in the world can be played on Hawaii.

Famous for Pearl Harbor and the final resting place of the U.S.S. Arizona, Oahu has a lot to see and do. Tour Pearl Harbor and visit the museum, which depicts the events of that fateful day. Pay your respects to those entombed in the Arizona and reflect on what was considered both our most horrific and finest hour. But Oahu offers much more than history. Surf the famous north shore of Haleiwa, known throughout the world for some of the best waves anywhere.

From whale watching in the Pacific Ocean to jungle tours in the lush island of Kauai, each of the Hawaiian Islands brings a unique vacation best experienced via cruise ship. Princess and other cruise lines give you the ability to jaunt between all the islands in order to partake of what each offers… all without unpacking your bags or changing hotel rooms!

Tahiti

Further south from Hawaii is a culture much like that depicted in the movie South Pacific. Local pearl farms in Polynesia, the extremes of the Cook Islands – from rainforests to windswept beaches plus waterfalls and lagoons, brightly colored flowers, lush jungles and much more keep you busy, as you explore until your heart is content.

Exceptional reefs at French Polynesia give snorkelers and scuba divers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view sea life from this region up close and personal. Hiking through the forests, jet skiing across the open Pacific, visiting the legendary lagoons of Bora Bora, exploring the ancient temples of Moorea and more will keep you busy for days on end.

Like with the Hawaiian Islands, the islands of Tahiti are best discovered via cruise ship. With a wide selection of itineraries, you can pay one price and then be ushered from island to island without having to change hotels or unpack.

Regardless of whether you choose to tour just one island or the entire South Pacific region, your vacation will be filled with amazing memories of a tropical paradise that really does live up to its reputation.
